Neuro-Vascular Regulation

Neuro-vascular signaling and regulation capacity appears to differ by neuronal cell type in the adult brain and changes with aging. We characterize these relationships and their specificity to the metabolic demands of the active neuronal population across brain states.

Systems scale imaging of neuronal, vascular and metabolic interactions during evoked or ongoing / resting-state activity

 
 

Whisker cortex responses.

A single puff delivered to the contralateral whisker pad elicits neuro-vascular changes measured by GCaMP, HbT-sensitive and HbR-sensitive imaging. This movie shows the changes in these signals (in that order) relative to pre-stimulation images. Whisker maps from each image are shown below.
